The Library at the North India Institute of Theological Studies has become one of the largest resource center for people to do philosophical, theological, and religious research. It is based in Chandigarh, the main hub of northwest India. The recent grant from a foundation in the US allowed us to expand the number of volumes to make it 10,000+ physical resources and many digital and online resources.
Another major book grant from Theological Book Network is adding 6,500 new volumes. With this addition, we will also have the largest collection of books for Muslim studies and research. This library holds books in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, Hebrew, Greek, Latin and a few other minority languages.
The Library is managed by latest software called ResourceMate and is classified according to the Library of Congress Catalog (LCC) system. The donation program of Microsoft made it possible to have the latest operating and office software for the use of the public.
The use of the library is not limited to any religious group but all and anyone can take membership at a very nominal cost and make use of the resources and also check books out to use them in the privacy of their home.
The computer lab has 15 terminals which are connected to internet via high speed broadband connection and are part of the Library resource to be used by individuals. With high capacity Diesel Generator, we make sure that there is no interruption of electricity at any time. Library hours are from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
